Just in time for the Fourth of July, specialty berries are here from Sterino Farms in Puyallup, WA! We have red currants and gooseberries to add some color for your parfaits, sauces, and marinades. They both have a pronounced tartness that is balanced by cooking or adding some sweetener. We also have Golden Raspberries and Green Currants to add some light and bright colors. These berries are as sweet as their red cousins but offer a unique light golden hue to add some contrast to your dishes. Finally, we have black currents, the darkest blue of the berries available right now, and one of the most versatile. These fresh black currants can be studded into scones along with some orange zest, or used to make a fantastic jelly. I’ll be creating a sweetened juice base to mix into cocktails to enjoy while watching the neighborhood fireworks. However you choose to use them, we hope you have a berry safe and fun holiday!
